Kombucha ice tea with peach and thyme

Summer can taste so pleasantly tart and fresh! Real Kombucha, served as an iced tea with peach slices and thyme leaves, is a wonderful thirst quencher and at the same time the perfect summer drink, because it is easy to prepare, e.g. when friends come to visit. The thyme leaves float on top of the Kombucha drink, which not only looks extremely pretty, but also causes surprising and slightly bitter taste explosions in the mouth.

 

Per glass you need:
  • 150ml Kombucha drink (go to the Kombucha recipe)
  • 2 small twigs thyme
  • 1 small fully ripe peach
  • as desired maple syrup or agave syrup and a dash of lemon
  • 3-4 ice cubes

 

The preparation:
  1. For each jar, wash one small peach, peel it, remove the seeds, cut it into thin slices and place it in the jar. The peaches used should be fully ripe and sweet. Outside the season, the best choice is therefore the very aromatic canned peaches, which are also easy to process.
  2. Add one thyme twig per glass as decoration completely into the glass. On the second branch, carefully remove the small thyme leaves from the woody stem and place them in the glass. Fill up with 150ml chilled Kombucha drink.
    If the Kombucha was already fermented quite sourly, you can sweeten the drink with a little maple syrup, agave syrup or - in the case of canned peaches - a small dash of sweetened peach juice.
  3. Place the glass in the refrigerator for at least one hour and let the mixture steep. Then fill up with 3-4 ice cubes to serve. Cheers!

 

By the way: Peaches not only taste good, they also contain valuable ingredients such as minerals, trace elements and vitamins. The carotenes contained in the fruit flesh are also noteworthy. The juicy fruits can strengthen the immune system and have a positive effect on heart and circulation. They also have a slightly draining effect.

Thyme - a medicinal plant and tea drug used for thousands of years - also contains numerous healthy ingredients. Most important are essential oils like thymol, geraniol, camphor and many others. The oils have an expectorant effect in the case of colds, as well as an antispasmodic and pain-relieving effect in the case of many complaints. In addition, the leaves contain various secondary plant substances that have shown cell-protective properties in numerous studies. Thyme also contains a lot of zinc, which strengthens the immune system, among other things.
